Lily and Kevin’s wedding at the Inn at Barley Sheaf Farm felt like a modern interpretation of a Jane Austen novel or an episode of Bridgerton—romantic and pastoral, with an old-world sensibility expressed through delicate details. These two lawyers met at work and share an unmistakable tenderness and ease. They are exceptionally thoughtful people who seem equally grateful to have found one another.
Lily has the quality of an old soul, and her aesthetic carried that spirit throughout the day. Her sculptural gown paired a clean, contemporary silhouette with a softly structured bodice, while understated shoes, an antique beaded handbag and other vintage details evoked a sense of history. Their invitation suite, framed by intricate botanical illustrations reminiscent of a Victorian bookplate, established the visual language of the celebration.
The Inn at Barley Sheaf Farm provided an idyllic setting for the day. Loose, meadow-like florals by Botanical Blueprints in peach, butter yellow, lavender, blush and blue framed the outdoor ceremony, while mismatched pastel dresses, lace parasols and layers of greenery extended the garden atmosphere throughout the celebration.
When rain began to fall during the ceremony, everyone quickly moved beneath the cocktail-hour tent, the paper sun parasols suddenly becoming umbrellas. It could easily have unsettled the moment, but Lily and Kevin handled the unexpected turn with the same grace, warmth and ease they seem to bring to everything they do. Rather than interrupting the feeling of the ceremony, the rain became part of its story—an unscripted moment that made the day feel even more cinematic.
Inside the reception space, the florals climbed the timber architecture and surrounded the couple’s sweetheart table, carrying the softness of the gardens indoors. The result felt romantic without becoming overly nostalgic: a fresh and expressive celebration grounded in craftsmanship, family and Lily and Kevin’s devotion to one another. Contemporary silhouettes and color were balanced by details that felt collected over time, giving the wedding a sense of history without sacrificing its lightness or individuality.
For Lily, the gathering of family was every bit as meaningful as the design. Her relatives are scattered throughout the United States and rarely have the opportunity to be together, making the wedding a particularly special reunion. She was especially mindful of ensuring that her mother—usually the person behind the camera at family gatherings—was photographed enjoying the people she loves.
As Lily and Kevin brought together their families, backgrounds and communities, the celebration felt expansive, welcoming and deeply connected. It was a romantic garden wedding with an old-world point of view, made personal through the people, objects and relationships that matter most to them.
