For our modern wedding photography workshop series, “Capturing Connection, Crafting Depth,” with Asya Photography our aim is to embody authenticity and nurture connection. For our first workshop, we collaborated with Confetti & Co for design, Styled Bride for planning, and Belovely for floral arrangements to breathe new life into Philadelphia’s iconic Merchants Exchange, blending ’90s nostalgia with contemporary elegance to reimagine a classic setting.

The initial part of our photoshoot at Power Plant Productions made the most of the abundant natural light, providing a stark contrast that allowed our colorful palette to shine. Our couple’s buoyant personalities were the perfect match for the candy-striped backdrop by Dusted Backdrops and a playful tablescape featuring a modern purple color scheme, illuminated by lavender Oxaca candles and set against BBJ La Tavola’s patterned tablecloth. Post-shoot, the venue was seamlessly transitioned into a communal dining space where we shared a meal, symbolizing the collective and joyous essence of our workshops.

In the educational segments, I guided attendees through “Effortlessly Elevated Posing,” imparting methods to capture elegant and authentic portraits. Asya’s lesson on “Capturing the in-between moments” provided insights into her documentary-style approach, highlighting the importance of capturing candid, spontaneous moments.

In the second half of our modern wedding photography workshop, the couple donned their reception attire, adding a dynamic twist to their portraits with their getaway car at Merchant’s Exchange. We infused the session with lively ’90s elements—featuring a vintage convertible, a playful ’90s-style veil and dress, and bright yellow daisies. This fun reinterpretation transformed a traditional must-have spot into a vibrant, eye-catching scene for our attendees’ portfolios.

This shoot and our workshop series as a whole stand for what we aim to achieve: authenticity, creativity, and lasting connections. For those eager to partake in this exciting blend of classic and contemporary photography, join us for our next modern wedding photography workshop at Warwick Furnace Lavender Farm on June 17th, 2024. This workshop series is designed to help you create luxury, eye-catching imagery that sets your work apart. Let’s unite to craft and connect, honing your vision to capture images that distinctly reflect your artistic identity.
