Sophie and Andrew’s glamorous Hotel Du Pont wedding in Wilmington, Delaware, carried a sense of timeless elegance from beginning to end. The historic architecture, grand staircases, and luminous interiors of the venue created a setting that naturally echoed the couple’s refined aesthetic and calm presence throughout the day.
As a wedding photographer, I always pay close attention to how a venue’s architecture and light shape the experience of a wedding day. Hotel Du Pont offers an incredible range of portrait environments within one location, which allowed us to create a diverse and cohesive gallery without ever rushing between locations.
Sophie and Andrew approached their wedding with thoughtful intention and a deep appreciation for the collaborative effort behind the day. Planners Erin and Sam of Kyle Michelle Weddings & Events guided the flow beautifully, bringing together an exceptional vendor team whose work elevated every detail.

Getting Ready at Hotel Du Pont
The morning began inside the elegant suites of Hotel Du Pont, where Sophie prepared for the day surrounded by her closest friends. The soft, natural light in the rooms created a beautiful environment for portraits while Posh Salon styled Sophie’s hair and completed her makeup.
Sophie wore a striking gown by Elizabeth Johns Couture, a design that felt perfectly aligned with the historic sophistication of the venue. The clean architectural lines of the dress paired beautifully with the luminous interior spaces throughout the hotel.
Photographing the getting-ready portion of the day is always about more than documenting beauty preparation. It is an opportunity to capture the quiet moments of anticipation, the energy of the bridal party, and the details that tell the story of the day’s design.
The invitation suite and heirloom jewelry were styled alongside delicate florals from House of StellaMer, whose work throughout the day carried a consistent palette of refined white blooms and natural vine-like movement.

Glamorous Portraits at Hotel Du Pont
Sophia & Andrew chose to begin the day with a first look and private vows, sharing a quiet moment together before the ceremony. These moments are always incredibly meaningful to photograph. They give couples space to slow down, connect, and experience the day together before the energy of the celebration begins.
The interiors of Hotel Du Pont offered an extraordinary setting for this moment. The marble staircases, ornate railings, and gilded ceilings created a beautiful architectural backdrop as Sophie and Andrew saw each other for the first time.
After their vows, we moved through several areas of the hotel for portraits. Sophie and Andrew moved through the space with a relaxed confidence that translated beautifully in photographs. Their portraits along the sweeping staircase felt especially striking, with the architecture framing the sculptural lines of Sophie’s gown.
We also stepped outside to photograph along the iconic Hotel Du Pont façade. The bridal party joined us there as well, and they brought such a great energy to the portraits. Their sense of humor and enthusiasm made those moments especially fun to photograph, creating a lively contrast to the elegance of the setting.
When I photograph weddings at venues like Hotel Du Pont, I always look for ways to let the architecture participate in the portrait—using framing, symmetry, and light to create photographs that feel timeless and deeply connected to the place.

A Luxurious Ballroom Ceremony at Hotel Du Pont
The ceremony unfolded within the grand ballroom of Hotel Du Pont, a space known for its ornate plasterwork, chandeliers, and sweeping scale. The design by House of StellaMer brought a sense of organic softness to the architecture through tall arrangements of white florals with graceful vine-like movement.
Each bridesmaid carried a bouquet featuring a different white bloom, creating a subtle layer of individuality within a cohesive palette. That same thoughtful design approach carried into the reception, where each table featured a single variety of white flower, allowing the floral textures to feel sculptural and intentional.
As Sophie walked down the aisle, the room held a quiet sense of anticipation that transitioned into a warm and joyful ceremony led by those closest to them.

A Glamorous Cocktail Hour and Reception
Cocktail hour unfolded in the hotel’s elegant gathering spaces as guests transitioned into the reception ballroom designed by Kyle Michelle Weddings & Events.
The reception design felt beautifully cohesive with the venue’s historic character. Tables featured single-variety white floral arrangements from House of StellaMer, allowing each table to carry its own floral personality while remaining visually harmonious across the room.
Glass candle lamps glowed softly across the tables, bringing warmth and dimension to the evening atmosphere.
Music from Carnivale Band of BVTLive filled the ballroom and quickly brought guests to the dance floor, setting an energetic tone for the celebration. Later in the evening, the celebration continued with an after-party led by Wired Up Entertainment, keeping the momentum going well into the night.
The energy of the room, the music, and the warmth of the guests created an atmosphere that felt both lively and deeply welcoming.

A Thoughtful Celebration at Hotel Du Pont
Sophie and Andrew’s Hotel Du Pont wedding in Wilmington, Delaware, reflected the power of thoughtful collaboration. Every vendor contributed a layer of artistry that shaped the experience of the day — from the planning of Kyle Michelle Weddings & Events, to the floral design of House of StellaMer, to the music and atmosphere created by Carnivale Band.
For me, photographing a wedding like this is about honoring the intention behind every detail while documenting the genuine moments that unfold throughout the day. Sophie and Andrew brought warmth, composure, and joy to every part of their celebration. It was a privilege to document their wedding inside one of the most iconic venues in the region.
