Nestled amidst the poetic landscapes of Tuscany’s Val D’Orcia, Juls and Jens celebrated their love at the historic Borgo Sant’Ambrogio estate. This wedding was particularly significant for me because Juls is one of my oldest and dearest friends.
In 2018 I was fortunate enough to explore Juls’ family’s quaint Italian town Sant’Elia. From the sun-kissed vineyards to the cobblestone streets, every corner resonated with a sense of history and tradition. Those memories came rushing back as I approached the Borgo Sant’Ambrogio, the heart of Val D’Orcia’s natural reserve and an oasis of serenity.
Surrounded by rolling hills and cypress trees, Borgo Sant’Ambrogio, a short drive from the idyllic Renaissance town of Pienza, radiated old-world charm. The estate, nestled in a natural reserve, boasted olive groves and a commitment to sustainability through its organic farm, producing top-tier olive oil.
Amidst the warm embrace of the Tuscan sun, Juls and Jens exchanged their vows, the picturesque rolling hills and stately cypress trees bearing witness. Juls, a vision in her flowing elegant gown, joined Jens, sealing years of companionship with vows. As the ceremony concluded, a lively brass band led the guests into a sprawling three-hour cocktail hour, allowing each individual to relish the enchanting hues of the Tuscan sunset before proceeding to dinner.
The three-course culinary experience unfolded, accompanied by the traditional melodies of an accordion player, their music interwoven with laughter and clinking glasses. The evening’s tapestry gained an extra layer of charm when Juls’s father took center stage, his voice resounding with traditional Italian songs that evoked a sense of heritage and togetherness.
We danced the night away under the star-studded Tuscan sky, the night ventured into a realm of pure celebration, where dancing became the language of joy and camaraderie. As both photographer and friend, I was humbled to have been a part of this timeless tale of love, captured against the canvas of Tuscany’s enduring landscapes.
