In 2013, the Edward W. Bok Technical High School was closed by the school district of Philadelphia. Thanks to a group of inspired creatives, the building found new life as a center for creatives and small business. At over 85,000 square feet, the possibilities within the building were seemingly endless and it wasn’t long before people realized it could be an incredibly unique space for weddings! When Bok reached out to me about collaborating on a styled shoot to show the potential of the space, I couldn’t wait to get involved!!

We focused our shoot within the more industrial spaces of the building. The sparse open warehouse setting felt like a blank canvas inviting us to dream whatever we wished! Thanks to our amazing vendor team, a vision of overgrown botanicals and natural whimsy began to take shape. We wanted it to appear as though nature had found its way into the space and reclaimed its organic magic within the urban structure. Nicole of Rabbit Rabbit Crew created a beautiful modern invite suite that featured moody, botanical graphics and leads us in styling and planning. Devon & Pinkett brought the space to life with dense, trailing greenery that seemed to grow from every corner— lush, leafy arrangements growing from the walls, utility sinks, and more!

It was obvious that this wasn’t a traditional space and that meant the right couple would have to have a little alternative edge as well! The bride wore a sheer black lace top and a skirt dip-dyed in steel gray from Sweet Caroline Styles. Top Knots by Aimee swept her hair back in a modern, elegantly messy updo and Shimmer & Spice gave her a clean, natural glow with coppery eyes and a matte brick lip. Our groom wore a stylish custom jacket from Commonwealth Proper, paired with charcoal gray slacks, a black tie, and a mod-patterned pocket square. Harry Merrill provided accessories in rose gold with smoky, onyx-colored gems to complement our offbeat bride & groom.

Fox & Finch Vintage Rentals and Party Rentals provided the furniture that we used to create our ceremony and reception.  Nutmeg Cake Design cooked up a dessert display that I still dream about regularly— a three-tiered cake in graphic black and gray, dark chocolate crullers, cookies with black and white marbled icing, and silver, dappled macarons! It was so wonderful working with such an incredible team of creatives and everything came together in such a spectacular fashion. Scroll down to check out all the epic moments!
