Caroline & Chris’s wedding felt expansive in the best possible way— layered with graceful abundance, timeless elegance, and unforgettable scale, all set against the grandeur of Philadelphia in winter.

Caroline, a lawyer, and Chris, a professional baseball player for the Baltimore Orioles, met while his team was in town to play the Philadelphia Phillies. A dating app connection quickly turned into something more when they realized they shared mutual friends—and their first date at The Ritz-Carlton, Philadelphia became part of their story in a lasting way. Last summer, we also ventured back into The Ritz-Carlton for Caroline and Chris’s Iconic Philadelphia Engagement Session. It felt only fitting that they would return there to celebrate their wedding day.

From the very beginning, Caroline envisioned a day filled with visual impact and emotional depth—moments that felt immersive, elevated, and unforgettable. With an extraordinary vendor team led by Jamie of LJ Events, that vision came to life seamlessly.

Getting Ready at The Ritz-Carlton

The morning unfolded in the light-filled suites of The Ritz-Carlton, where tall windows framed a view of City Hall rising just beyond the glass—an iconic Philadelphia backdrop for Caroline’s preparations. The space felt calm and elegant, setting the tone for a day rooted in intention and timeless style.

Their invitation suite by The Papery of Philadelphia featured classic letterpress on thick, luxurious paper, offering guests an early glimpse of the grandeur and refinement that would define the celebration. Styled alongside her Christian Dior heels, Chanel Coco perfume, and a bottle of Dom Pérignon, the details came together as a quiet expression of Caroline’s refined taste.

Her gown brought everything together—elegant and romantic, with structured lines that highlighted her frame and delicate lace that moved beautifully in the light. Worn with sleek, polished hair by Royal Brides by Senada and perfect makeup by AMG Beauty Bar, the look felt timeless and assured, allowing the craftsmanship of the dress and the significance of the moment to take center stage.

A Private First Look, Lit by Candlelight

Before heading to the ceremony, Caroline and Chris shared an intimate first look on the marble staircase at The Ritz-Carlton—transformed by hundreds of glowing candles. The moment felt cinematic and deeply personal. They exchanged handwritten vows, reading them aloud to one another in a quiet pause before the day unfolded fully. There were tears, laughter, and a palpable sense of presence—an intentional beginning grounded in connection.

Following their first look, we stepped outside for bridal party portraits. The stately marble columns and historic architecture framed the group beautifully, offering a setting that felt both grand and timeless without needing to venture far from the celebration itself.

A Ceremony at the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul

Caroline traveled to the ceremony in a white vintage Rolls-Royce, arriving at the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul—one of Philadelphia’s most breathtaking and historic churches. Inside, soaring ceilings, ornate detailing, and rich architectural color created a sense of reverence and scale.

As Caroline walked down the aisle, Chris was overcome with emotion. The ceremony was both grand and deeply personal, honoring tradition while centering the connection between them. Afterward, they exited the church to cheers and celebration, stepping back into the Rolls-Royce and returning to the Ritz in true cinematic fashion.

We stopped along Broad Street for portraits—champagne popped, city lights glowing—capturing the exhilaration of newlywed joy against Philadelphia’s iconic backdrop.

A Winter Wonderland Reception

The reception began with a show-stopping entrance: guests descending the marble staircase, illuminated by hundreds of candles, into the piano room. A grand piano, adorned with florals, sat beneath a floral arch and welcome signage, setting the tone for the evening ahead.

The escort display featured long mirrored tables crowned with a dramatic floral installation designed like a blooming tree—lush, sculptural, and breathtaking. Inside the ballroom, the palette of white and silver came to life through expansive floral installations by Petals Lane, cool blue uplighting by Synergetic, and reflective surfaces that transformed the space into a winter dreamscape. Towering arrangements sprouted winter white branches, while candlelight flickered across mirrored tabletops and clear chairs. A white monogrammed dance floor sat at the center of it all, grounding the space in both elegance and personal detail. Every element—from the expansive florals to the reflective surfaces—worked together to create a setting that felt luminous and expansive.

Music carried the evening forward, with LA Starz from EBE Talent filling the room and keeping the energy high from the first dance through the final song. The nearly four-foot-tall cake stood as a sculptural statement of its own, and a champagne tower flowing with Dom Pérignon added to the sense of celebration and generosity.

As the night continued, a surprise visit from Santa brought joy and laughter to the dance floor, blending holiday spirit seamlessly into the evening. The night closed with one final, unforgettable moment on the dance floor. Guests gathered closely around Caroline and Chris as they shared their last dance—an intimate, electric pause in the middle of a room still glowing with candlelight, music, and emotion. It felt communal and celebratory, a shared exhale after a day filled with beauty and intention.

Merry Ellis After Party

From there, the celebration flowed effortlessly into an after-party that fully embraced the holiday spirit. Just steps away inside the Ritz-Carlton Philadelphia, the space transformed into a festive, high-energy lounge designed for pure celebration. A glowing “Merry Ellis” marquee—framed by wrapped presents—anchored the room and quickly became a favorite backdrop for guest selfies and late-night portraits.

Overhead, oversized Christmas ornaments floated beneath rich red uplighting, casting a warm glow that wrapped the entire space in seasonal glamour. Music filled the room, Santa hats appeared, and the dress code loosened as guests leaned into the joy of the moment. Laughter, dancing, and movement carried the night forward, creating an after-party that felt playful, immersive, and unmistakably celebratory—an unforgettable final chapter to an already extraordinary day.

Caroline & Chris’s wedding day felt beautifully layered with graceful abundance, timeless elegance, and unforgettable scale, all unfolding against the grandeur of Philadelphia in winter. From intimate, artful moments to sweeping celebrations filled with music, florals, and light, every chapter of the day carried a sense of purpose and heart.

Set within the iconic halls of The Ritz-Carlton Philadelphia, the celebration was elevated by thoughtful planning from LJ Events, whose vision brought harmony to every detail—from the quiet morning moments to the final song of the night. The city itself, Philadelphia, offered a stunning winter backdrop—historic, luminous, and full of presence.

It was an honor to document a wedding that trusted beauty, artistry, and emotion at every turn—and to capture a celebration that felt both expansive and deeply personal, in a place where elegance and meaning came together so effortlessly.
