Kaitlyn and John’s love story began long before they officially met, tracing back to their days at the same high school. Graduating just a year apart, they shared overlapping friend groups but never truly crossed paths. Years later, fate intervened at a hometown bar, where on that fateful night, Kaitlyn and John’s friend groups ended up running into each other. As they spent the evening playing darts and catching up, John’s genuine nature and good sense of humor stood out. At the end of the night, there was a brief mix up with phone numbers, but thankfully John and Kaitlyn rekindled over Instagram. Despite some initial miscommunication, their connection was undeniable.

As their relationship blossomed, John showed his unwavering commitment by moving to Connecticut with Kaitlyn for her graduate school. There was just one rule: no proposals until after graduation. True to his word, John waited until they had settled into their new home. He meticulously planned a romantic proposal in the Pennsylvania Hospital Museum Gardens, a place symbolically perfect and close to Kaitlyn’s heart. In May 2023, despite the rain, John led Kaitlyn through the soaked streets, umbrella in hand, to the private, tulip-filled garden. As he knelt down on one knee, Kaitlyn’s joyful interruption, “oh this is happening now!” captured the spontaneity and love of the moment. With their families waiting to celebrate, John’s perfectly planned proposal marked the beginning of their journey to marriage – where their whimsical Terrain at DelVal wedding would be captured by our associate Gabby.

As the morning sun lit up Terrain Gardens at DelVal’s bridal suite adorned with delicate florals and vintage mirrors, setting the perfect tone for the day ahead. Kaitlyn’s bridal look was the epitome of relaxed elegance. Her hair, styled by Marina Katko, flowed in soft, romantic waves, perfectly complementing her delicate features, while Jen Damminger’s makeup artistry enhanced her natural beauty, giving her a radiant glow. She carried a stunning bouquet by Design by Terrain, featuring pastel blooms that added a touch of whimsy. Her Watters wedding dress featured intricate lace detailing and airy, puffed sleeves, creating a timeless and ethereal aesthetic that was truly unforgettable.

Private First Look

For Kaitlyn & John, the first look was one of the most treasured moments of their wedding day. This private first look allowed them to connect deeply, easing the nerves and setting a serene tone for the rest of the day. Their beloved dog, Otis, a mini goldendoodle, joined them for some adorable portraits, bringing a touch of playfulness and joy.

The couple’s reflections on this moment encapsulate its magic: “For us, the first look was one of our favorite moments. It’s strange – feeling nervous to see the person with whom you usually feel most comfortable with. But it’s an excited nervousness.”

Unforgettable Celebration at Terrain Gardens at DelVal

As guests arrived at the newest venue of Terrain Gardens at DelVal, they were greeted by an enchanting setting. The ceremony, adorned with pastel florals and elegant decor, was a dream come true. The aisle, lined with delicate petals, led to a charming gazebo where they would exchange their vows.

After the ceremony, guests mingled both outside and inside for the cocktail hour. Followed by the seated dinner in the reception area. The floral arrangements by Design by Terrain carried that lovely pastel color palette into the evening, and the decor, a mix of DIY projects and thoughtful selections, came together seamlessly, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.

At the end of the day, Kaitlyn and John told us that the only thing that mattered to them was being together. As they danced the night away, the small imperfections faded into insignificance. In that moment, surrounded by loved ones, they embraced the joy and love that defined their day.
